A Walk in the Park: Jurassic Park

Are you a Jurassic Park fan? I am! The original movie came out when I was in grade school. It’s still a favorite of mine! If you’ve seen Jurassic World, then reading Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton might be up your alley.

I’ve actually read this book more than once – so that’s saying something. I listened to it on a road trip when I was a teenager, and I have read it twice more since. It’s a great mix of science and storytelling.

I love that I can compare scenes and characters from the book to those presented in the movie. Steven Spielberg really did do an amazing job and that’s probably why this movie is streaming on Netflix right now – everyone loves it! When I saw Jurassic World, I was very interested in the return of Henry Wu – the lab guy. He has a very small part in the movie, but in the novel there is a lot of time spent developing this character. Many of the details about his personality are shown in the newer film. I’m happy that he didn’t remain a static character with little motivation, because as we all know, he has plenty of motivation.

Off book topic, I know, but the subsequent movies are just not as good. I was very pleased with the reinvention of Jurassic World. I have also read Jurassic World, it’s a good squeal.

In short, I would highly recommend that you read this book, especially if you like the movie. I would love to talk to you about all the changes they made and if you like them or not. Lex and Tim – wait until you see how they changed them.
